Tom has been practicing general corporate and securities law in the Bay area since 1984. He worked with large firms early in his legal career, and began his own practice in 1993.

Tom represents startup and growth-stage businesses in a diverse range of high-technology industries. His practice is focused on providing legal advice and assistance relating to business transactions. Tom's areas of specialty include the formation of corporations, limited liability companies and other business entities, venture capital and other finance transactions, equity incentive plans for employees, licensing of technology, commercial contracts, and mergers and acquisitions. Tom has also acted as a litigation consultant with respect to a range of corporate issues.

Tom has authored or co-authored several published articles, has been a guest speaker at entrepreneur events, and has served as an expert witness.
